#1. ECR Passport – Emigration Check Required
If you have not passed 10th standard, then your passport will be marked with a stamp displaying “Emigration Check Required”. You will need to get clearance from immigration office every time you wish to step outside India. Remember that this clearance is only required if your intention of leaving India is to work abroad. You won’t require it for any other purpose such as recreational, business, etc.
#2. ECNR Passport – Emigration Check NOT Required
ECNR stamp is marked on your passport if you are a graduate or 10th pass. . It means those people who have ECNR passport, do not require to get clearance from immigration office every time when he/she plan to go outside of India.

How To Remove ECR Stamp In Case Of Omission Or Conversion?
Step 1. Download Application Form For Miscellaneous Services by accessing official Passport Seva Portal.
Step 2. Mention the request of ‘Deletion of ECR (Emigration Check Required) in passport’ in the form.
Step 3. Submit two photocopies of 10th, 12th and college degree.
Step 4. Make sure that your copies of all certificates are duly attested.
Step 5. Attach a proof of address.
Step 6. PAN card may be required.
Step 7. Applicable Fee of amount 300 INR is to be paid.
Step 8. Submit your present passport along with 2 photocopies of last and first 4 pages of it.
Step 9. Submit the form along with the documents at your nearest passport office center.
